Role: A Maintenance Supervisor or Chief Mechanic (MS) is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery on board a vessel or offshore platform. They ensure that the equipment is in good working condition and that maintenance is carried out efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising maintenance personnel
  • Ensuring compliance with maintenance procedures and regulations
  • Ordering and managing spare parts and supplies
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures
  • Conducting regular inspections of equipment
  • Ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel and equipment

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance and repair
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A trade certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field is typically required
  • Additional certifications such as the Chief Engineer’s Certificate may be beneficial
