Role: A Maintenance Supervisor or Chief Mechanic (MS) is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery on board a vessel or offshore platform. They ensure that the equipment is in good working condition and that maintenance is carried out efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising maintenance personnel
- Ensuring compliance with maintenance procedures and regulations
- Ordering and managing spare parts and supplies
- Troubleshooting equipment failures
- Conducting regular inspections of equipment
- Ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel and equipment
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance and repair
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A trade certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field is typically required
- Additional certifications such as the Chief Engineer’s Certificate may be beneficial
